4DOS is a COMMAND.COM replacement (also runs on top of command.com on the HPLX), bringing many of the latest command line extensions found in current DOS versions (and even Windows NT) to those, who are bound to a particular DOS version such as the outdated MS-ROMDOS 5.0 built into the pallmtops. Once you've created a batch file you can compile it with BATLITE and turn it into a .COM file. There are several such programs like this on the market: this is The Best--hands down. The COM file will work slightly faster than the original batch file. Freeware from Belgium. Hard to find elsewhere.
